Thank you Aborn Family for all of your help and support to make our Fall Fundraiser a success! In these tough economic times the fact that we did well speaks to all of your hard work. The Fall fundraiser is very important to get us started and help us to decide what kinds of programs we can offer to the students. Here are the totals:

Mrs. Driscoll’s Class was the Panda Adoption winners! Total profit was $6410.00.
Congratulations to all of the Limo Ride winners you worked very hard for that prize. Because we used a new fundraising company this year, we would like to hear if you approved of the services that they provided. Lavendar would like us to sign on for more fundraisers and we would like to know how you felt. We have heard from a few parents but would like more response. Please fill out the bottom of the notice that was sent home with your student and return in with your student or if you do not have the notice and would like your opinion to be known send an email to annmvaughan@comcast.net. Your satisfaction is very important to us. We need your support to raise funds for the students.
Ruby in Miss Dean’s class was the winner of the summer Webkins raffle. We would like to thank all of the students that sent in Boxtops. Please continue sending them in this is a year round fundraiser. Also, continue to send in your Pennies For Technology. All of the classrooms have collection cans and remember the class that collects the most by the end of the school year will get a prize! All of your pennies help to supply the computer lab with much needed supplies.
Holiday Fair on December 10, 2008
The
fair will be held in the lower part of the Bethany Church across the street
from the school. We will be calling the people that signed up to volunteer
after Thanksgiving. If you did not sign up and would like to please send in a
note with your student or send an email to the above address. The children
will be able to shop for family members and friends. Gift prices will range
from $0.25 to $3.00. Each child will also be able to decorate a gingerbread
cookie for free to bring home and enjoy. The children will be shopping on the
following schedule:
9:00am-9:45am Grade 4
9:45am-10:30am Grade 2
10:30am-11:15am Grade 5
11:15am-12:00pm Grade 1
12:15pm-1:00pm Grade 3
1:00pm- 1:45pm Kindergarten
You may come and enjoy the fair and help your child shop. We will also be having a raffle table. We would appreciate any donations to be raffled off. All items must be new and in their original packages and should be brought to the school no later than December 5, 2008. We will also be accepting donations of gift cards to be raffled off.

Ca$h Calendar$
Cash Calendars will be on sale from November 7th until November 21st. All money and any unsold calendars should be returned to the school by Friday November 21, 2008. The Cash Calendars cost $5.00 each. Each student has been given five calendars to try to sell. If you would like any additional calendars please send in a note with your child. The top seller in the school will win a $25.00 gift card for Toys R Us. All money raised goes directly to the students by paying for buses for field trips and educational programs. This year there will be 15 $25.00 prizes, 4 $50.00 prizes and 1 $100.00 prize. When a winner is drawn their ticket is placed back into the batch, so there will be many chances to win!! Welcome to a new school year! We wanted to give you an update on events currently taking place and a preview of events to come this school year.
We are kicking off our fall fundraiser with Lavender on Monday September 15, 2008. This is a new company to our school and we are excited to have them join in our efforts. Please help us to make this a successful start to the year. Lavender will be rewarding the high sellers this year will grand rewards. Complete details will come home with your student. Please review all forms. All orders are due back with payment on Friday October 3, 2008.
Also, we will once again be offering Aborn Spiritwear. We are using Heritage Spiritwear again this year. Order forms will be coming home soon with all students and there will be samples available at the Open House on Wednesday September 17, 2008. If you have questions on sizing please come and take a look. All orders with payment are due in school on Friday September 26, 2008.
We still have Aborn Cookbooks available for $10 each. Each cookbook has a tasty collection of Aborn family treasured recipes. They make a great gift or keepsake. Please send in a note with payment with your student for purchase.
The following are our school store dates for the upcoming school year: 10/8/08, 11/12/08, 1/14/09, 3/18/09, 04/15/09 and 5/06/09. Students will be able to shop at the store with their class that morning.
We will have 3 PTO member meetings this school year. On Thursday November 6, 2008 at 7pm we will meet to discuss ideas for the Holiday Fair. On Thursday March 12, 2009 at 7pm we will discuss ideas for the Spring Family Fun Night. And on Thursday May 7, 2009 at 7pm we will discuss ideas for the June Field day. Please try to attend. We welcome any and all ideas.
We will be selling Cash Calendar raffles throughout the month of November. All raffles will be drawn in the month of December with a bonus day on Christmas December 25th worth $100. Please help this to be a successful fundraiser.
The annual Holiday Fair will be held on Wednesday December 10, 2008. The fair is held across the street at the Bethany Church. This is an opportunity for the students to shop for holiday gifts for family and friends at reasonable prices. Please join us! Each student will come with their class. We will have shopping, raffles and fun!
June Field Day will be held on Tuesday June 2, 2009 with a rain date of Thursday June 4, 2009. This is a fun day for the whole Aborn Family. All students, teachers and volunteers will receive a Field Day T-Shirt, lunch and a slush. Plus, they will have lots of fun. This year we would like to try a new theme, if you have any ideas please let us know. We will also need lots of volunteers for this to be a successful event. We have had a great turnout over the past few years and that is why it has been such a great day. Please help again this year!
Our ongoing fundraisers are Pennies for technology and Boxtops. We collect Boxtops throughout the school year. The 3 students that bring in the most Boxtops will receive a reward. Also, we collect pennies in each classroom. The classroom that collects the most pennies from now until Friday May 15, 2008 will receive a reward! All money collected from the pennies for technology drive help to supply the computer lab with toner, paper and any needed supplies so please keep them coming!
Please help us to make this a great school year! All of the funds that are raised through our fundraisers directly benefit the students at Aborn. In these hard economic times please use all of your efforts to make these fundraisers successful. The funds raised will help pay for buses for field trips, supplies for the school and many events for the students throughout the year!
